PRODRIVE P2
2006
The P2 was a one-off prototype two-seater sports car created by Prodrive and revealed in 2006 at the Autosport show in the UK.
The car featured innovative Prodrive developed technologies. To enhance the cars handling, Prodrive’s ATD (Active Torque Dynamics) system was been fitted to the drivetrain. Using active centre and rear differentials, ATD can modulate the torque to the wheels to optimise the car’s handling characteristics.
The P2’s Impreza STi engine is fitted with Prodrive’s ALS (Anti-Lag System). Derived from the Impreza World Rally Car, ALS can keep the turbo on boost at low engine speeds, giving the car immediate throttle response and improved performance. The chassis was based on a modified Subaru R1 steel monocoque, with styling led by Peter Stevens, who had worked on previous Prodrive cars, like the Impreza P1, as well as the McLaren F1.

The car was driven by Jeremy Clarkson for BBC TV’s Top Gear programme and completed a hot lap of the track in the hands of the Stig in 1:24.3 faster than an E60 BMW M5, Evo VIII FQ400, and nearly as fast as the original Koenigsegg CC8S.
